OSHA Fines Illinois Pet Food Company $750,000
Illinois-based All-Feed Processing and Packaging has been placed in OSHA's Severe Violator Enforcement Program after several years of willful health and safety violations. The pet food production company has knowingly exposed workers to combustible dusts that have already caused explosions and fires in the past. In addition, All-Feed has willfully ignored hearing conservation standards and neglected to ensure that industrial truck operators have completed the training program. The company is required to pay over $750,000 in fines and undergo further OSHA inspections.

Massachusetts Supermarket Company Fined $590,000
Demoulas Supermarkets, operating as the grocery store chain Market Basket in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, has been cited for over $589,000. OSHA reported four willful violations for failure to address known fall and laceration hazards, and seven repeat violations that stem from a lack of procedure, training and equipment for dealing with bloodborne pathogens, meat and seafood handling, and equipment. In addition, Demoulas faces 19 serious violations for failure to call emergency services after moving a severely injured employee and for exposing workers to potentially harmful or fatal chemicals. OSHA has given Demoulas Supermarkets 15 business days to comply with the citations and penalties.
